Our Story

How We Met:
I attended Mount St. Mary’s University for my undergraduate career and Chris attended Rutgers.  However, Chris’ best friend also went to the Mount.  Chris and I met thanks to this friend bringing Chris along to an alumni event for the Mount in 2009, right after I had graduated that May.  I remember noticing Chris at this event and thinking he was cute (I also remember thinking something along the lines of – wouldn’t this be a fun “how we met” story one day – weird, right?).  Later that night, I was dancing with my friends but since I am an introvert to the Nth degree, I needed some alone time.  So up I went to the top of the boat (we were on a dinner cruise along the Inner Harbor) to get some fresh air.  Chris popped up out of nowhere and struck up a conversation with me.  We clicked immediately and talked/danced the rest of the night.

I freaked out a bit about what this guy was expecting and ended up leaving the event without saying goodbye.  He found me on Facebook (yay social media) the next day.  I was incredibly hesitant to continue talking to him for a variety of reasons but this man literally pursued me and broke down the walls around my heart.  After getting to know each other via telephone, email, text etc. long distance, we began dating in August of 2010.  He was still in New Jersey but actively looking for a job in Baltimore.  I still lived at home with my parents in Maryland while getting my Masters.  Chris eventually found a job in Baltimore and moved into a little apartment in the city in March of 2011.

I have found the One…

Chris and I had openly talked about our desires to get married.  I think we both had known for a while that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.  The day after Thanksgiving in 2011 Chris suggested we head up to the Grotto in Emmitsburg.  He had never been there and I always talked about what a special place is was, especially during my time at the Mount.   We drove up there and went to noon mass together.  After mass I told him I really wanted to show him my favorite spot.  If you’re familiar with the grotto, I love the fountain around the statue of the Blessed Mother, where the holy water spring is.  He led me over to one of the benches and we sat down.  He started talking about how much he loved me and how I had brought things like this into his life and he was thankful for that.  Then he got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him!  Of course I said yes!  We were blessed to then have the opportunity to have a priest bless us as a newly engaged couple!

Whom my Soul loves.

Chris and I were married at the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception on Mount St. Mary’s University campus.  The chapel had recently been renovated and looked more beautiful than ever.  Every girl dreams of her wedding, her very own fairytale...and I can honestly say that my wedding was a dream come true.  However, I always remember to strive for a marriage even MORE beautiful than our wedding.  I thank God everyday for the blessing to be Chris' wife and I pray our marriage glorifies God and just gets better with time...like a fine wine ;-)
